The Affordable Care Act: Resources for Early Childhood Programs
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, approximately 20 percent of Georgians are uninsured. To assist the Early Care and Education field with this critical issue, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Administration for Children & Families has a new Affordable Care Act and Early Learning webpage to help child care providers navigate the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace. Early childhood professionals may be eligible for health insurance under the ACA, and may have the opportunity to help families navigate the ACA Marketplace.
Open enrollment in this Marketplace starts on October 1, and coverage is slated to start as soon as January 1, 2014. Enrollment can be completed online, by mail, over the phone, or in person. Families and small businesses are also encouraged to visit HealthCare.gov or CuidadoDeSalud.gov to find critical information about how to prepare for open enrollment.
