Cindy Britt, Finance

Cindy BrittCindy Britt started her work with young children as a family care provider. Five years later she joined The Clifton School as a receptionist. Over the next 27 years she progressed from Business Manager to Administrative Director overseeing all business and financial aspects of two NAEYC-accredited locations and in 2013 moved to Site Director of The Clifton School – Clifton Site. She and her husband live in Jonesboro, where they can be close to their children and grandchildren.

Amy Kay, Conference

Amy M. Kay holds a Doctorate degree in Language and Literacy Education. She has worked in Early Childhood Education for over 20 years and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Science at the University of Georgia. In this position, she serves as the Director of the Child Development Lab at the McPhaul Center.

Michelle Jackson, Membership

As an Education Coordinator at the NAEYC accredited Atlanta First Day School, Michelle Jackson spends most of her day developing strategies and steering her teachers and students toward educational excellence in the greater Atlanta area. With more than 13 years of diverse experience in childcare, her passion for connecting with students, families and staff has allowed her to excel in training as well as marketing, while balancing compassionate and mission-driven guidance. One of Michelle’s primary goals is to help those around her reach their highest potential while providing direction along the way. As a member of organizations like NAEYC’s YPAC, she’s able to further make an impact on a larger scale and directly influence those who work with our children on a daily basis. Michelle also has both a Bachelor Degrees in History and Psychology with a Minor in English, which she’s used to increase understanding and communication with the people she interacts with daily.

Jennifer Cluely, Professional Development

Jennifer Cluley is the Associate Project Director at Best Practices Training at Georgia State University. In this position, Jennifer supports a team of dynamic trainers providing professional development to birth – five teachers and providers throughout the State of Georgia. More than 20 years ago, Jennifer began her career in early childhood as part of Georgia’s Pre-K program and worked as a teacher and administrator with a large non-profit prior to working at Georgia State University. Jennifer lives in the northern suburbs of Atlanta with her husband and two daughters.

Ebony Cray Jones, Public Policy

ebony-cray-jonesEbony Cray Jones has over 25 years of experience working with children and families. She works as a teacher and Program Coordinator for the Child Development Association. Beginning her studies in the Child Development program at Edison Tech in New York, she continued her love for educating and advocating for children after moving to Georgia. Ebony earned a Preschool endorsement as a Child Development Associate (CDA); a Diploma, A.A.S., and Program Administration Certification in Early Childhood Education from Atlanta Technical College. She also holds a BA in Psychology from American Public University and is near the end of her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. Ebony also serves as the Southeast Representative for the World Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP-USA), is the Founder of World Advocates for Children and Families (WAFCAF), and serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for DeKalb County Juvenile Court. In addition, she is also a Strengthening Families Georgia Trainer and a DECAL Level I trainer, providing training for educators, administrators and support staff.

Roslyn Johnson, Resource Development

Roslyn JohnsonRoslyn Johnson serves as Program Director/Instructor for the Early Childhood Care/Education Program at Southern Crescent Technical College. Dr. Johnson began her tenure in early childhood education as a pre-kindergarten-first grade teacher, then transitioned into higher education, where she has served as a full-time instructor/adjunct professor for over nine years. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language & Literature, a Master of Education degree, and a Doctor of Education degree in Instructional Leadership/Teaching and Learning. A strong advocate for continuing education, she is currently pursuing a second Master of Education degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. Dr. Johnson serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Commissioner Bruce Holmes Youth Foundation, cabinet member for Get Georgia Reading, and a member of the Advisory Council for LifeSouth Community Blood Centers. She also continues to conduct/present research and collaborate with peers on various research projects.

Laurel Beckham, Strengthening Families Georgia Liaison

Laurel BeckhamLaurel Beckham is an adjunct faculty member at Gwinnett Technical College where she teachers in the Early Childhood Care and Education department. She also teaches at Capella University in the School of Public Service Leadership and also a dissertation chair for many doctoral students. After receiving her PhD from the University of Georgia, she worked at the Center for Child Well-being where she developed and conducted parenting classes in an effort to reduce parent stress and strengthen parenting skills. Laurel serves on the advisory board for Better Brains for Babies and was the GAYC President from 2012-2013.

Diane Bales, Technology

Diane Bales is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science and Human Development Specialist with Cooperative Extension at The University of Georgia. She has a Master’s and Ph.D. in child psychology from the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota, and held a Minnesota pre-kindergarten teaching license. She has worked with children from birth through high school in many different capacities for the past 19 years.
